Narva-Jõesuu is a seaside town at the river mouth, and it was built in three layers: wooden villas from the tsarist era, Soviet rest homes, and new apartment buildings from the 2000s. A large share of the property is seasonal and unheated through winter, and in such a house the lock has often seized or stiffened with damp by spring.
